A pack of wolves - which according to the first reports should consist of a male, a female and a younger specimen - was spotted late in the evening in Crotone in several inhabited areas of the city. Experts speak of the event as a "naturalistic miracle".
"They may have arrived in the city - says Girolamo Parretta, president of the Ibis circle for the environment, which has been studying the wolf of the Marquisate for some time, also with the aid of camera traps - following the course of the Esaro river, because that's how they move wolves being able to travel up to 120 km a day. In recent weeks sightings have been reported near Cutro and Isola Capo Rizzuto that, taking advantage of the silence from lockdown, they must have entered the city ".
"There is no reason to fear the wolf - Parretta says - who has an ancestral fear of man, has not attacked him since the end of the eighteenth century, when anger was widespread. This is a pack that should only be protected".
