Error drying clothes: It costs money
Many people make a fatal mistake when washing their dirty laundry: they spin at low speed because they think that this will save electricity.
But the opposite is the case, as Rainer Stamminger, professor of household and process engineering at the University of Bonn, knows: "Every load of wet laundry brings with it three to four liters of evaporative water", the expert told Stylebook.de. And the wetter the laundry is, the more water must evaporate.
If you dry a load of laundry on the drying rack, the room humidity increases by up to 30 percent - great conditions for mold of any kind. If you don't want to risk mold, you need to heat up vigorously, as dry, warm air can absorb more moisture. And that costs more than a reduced number of slingshots.
"The drier the clothes come out of the machine, the better" , says the washing expert and therefore always advises to spin at the highest level - or to let them dry in the sun.
