According to the latest assessment from the Directorate General of Health, 2,712 patients are still in intensive care on Monday.

A new assessment, on the first day of a deconfinement as expected as feared. This Monday, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) announced that 263 new people had died after contracting the Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in France.

A total of 26,643 people have died of the coronavirus in the country since the beginning of March, ie 16,820 deaths in hospitals and 9,823 in medico-social establishments, in particular in nursing homes.

The number of deaths for 24 hours is higher than that of the previous day, which reported 70 dead and constituted the lowest daily toll since March 17, the date of the start of confinement. But Monday is a bit of a special day in terms of the toll, as a number of weekend deaths go back to the health authorities with a little delay. "In general, we observe on Monday a larger number of declarations which is explained by the catching up of the weekend", explained last month Santé Publique France to the Parisian.

2,712 patients in intensive care

The good news on the resuscitation front continues, also announces the DGS. There are 82 new serious cases admitted in 24 hours, but the balance remains negative and this for several weeks, with 64 patients less on Monday, according to the DGS. However, there are still 2,712 patients still hospitalized in intensive care to this day.

Hospitalizations linked to Covid-19 remain high: 22,284 people are currently being treated in hospital after being infected. Including 523 new admissions recorded in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of March, French hospitals have received 96,431 patients and 56,724 of them have been able to return to their homes.
