"I admit I have not drooled over you ..." After two months of confinement, the formula sums up the mood of many French people. Proof of this is that there were several thousand of them rubbing against La Javanaise de Gainsbourg as they approached their (almost) found freedom on Monday. The result, shared on YouTube this weekend, has the allure: a video montage in which they appear alongside Jane Birkin taking in chorus the song of the man with the head of cabbage.

A new cover driven by France Musique, Radio France and the Théâtre du Châtelet as part of the operation " Le temps d'une chanson" . Participants were invited to send their version of Serge Gainsbourg's song after following a tutorial on YouTube.
In total, nearly 3,600 French people of all ages played the game. Only the first 640 contributions were selected, then edited and mixed by the Radio France video service, to appear alongside the Franco-British singer.
Written in 1963 by Gainsbourg for Juliette Greco The Javanaise uses a coded language where we inserted "av" and "va" in the middle of the words. “The first time I had to sing it, I was so nervous that I lost my words. Full white before entering the scene, ”recalls Jane Birkin. Now she offers an a cappella version at the end of each of her concerts.
