(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 11 - It will be in Italian bookstores on 12 May 'If blood flows' (pp. 512, euro 21.90), a collection of four stories about fear signed by Stephen King and published by Sperling & Kupfer in the translation of LucaBriasco. Already released in the United States and England, the book immediately debuted in first place in the ranking in both countries in full lockdown. In the story that gives the title to the collection, one of King's most loved characters returns, to whom Barack Obama has conferred the National Medal of Arts, and from the readers: Holly Gibney, former heroine of the Mr Mercedes series and of the bestseller The Outsider, who has just become TV series. Front pages of newspapers and opening images of the news are dedicated to a bomb at Albert Macready Middle School. Among the millions horrified in front of the screen, however, there is one that takes a discordant note, the investigator Holly Gibney who observes the crime scene and realizes that something was wrong, that the first one sent to the scene of the massacre has something wrong . Thus opens 'If the blood flows', an independent sequel to the bestseller 'The Outsider'.
But the long story dedicated to King's favorite detective, as he himself writes in the final note, is only one of the four that make up the collection. 'From Il phone del signor Harrigan', where life and technology intertwine in an unusual way with 'La vita di Chuck', inspired by an advertising poster, up to 'Ratto', which plays with the nature of the talent of a writer, the stories of this collection are outside the box, sometimes sentimental, perhaps even outside the weather.
