Report: Lidl invests in its own payment system Lidl Pay

According to a report by Chip.de, the corona crisis is now causing many companies to invest in payment systems - and Lidl also has big plans, reports the portal. The Neckarsulmer wants to expand with its cell phone payment service Lidl-Pay and offer it in all German branches. "LidlPay is already integrated in the Lidl-Plus loyalty app. While the app is already being used successfully in Spain, the test phase in Poland is currently starting in 200 branches and the nationwide rollout is imminent," Chip.de writes. Other countries are expected to follow the report.

Pay with a smartphone in the supermarket - this is how it works

What you had to know before using your smartphone: First of all, it is important that your smartphone supports Near Field Communication (NFC). Contactless payment is only possible in this case . If you have also activated the function, only the right app is missing. This can be Google Pay or Apple Pay, for example. If you download one of the apps, you only have to enter some data and choose a payment method such as PayPal.

Several large supermarkets * such as Edeka , Rewe , Aldi Nord and Süd * and Kaufland  support mobile payment, reports the technology portal Chip. However, some shops do not yet offer this option.
