Google abandons its plans for a future city in Toronto because of the coronavirus. Sidewalks Lab, Mountain View division, backtracks after two and a half years of negotiations citing uncertainty related to the epidemic.
"It became too difficult to make the project financially viable without sacrificing its essential parts for an inclusive community," says Dan Doctoroff, the CEO of Sidewalks Lab. Negotiations that, despite the controversy and criticism, were going ahead with an expected agreement in June.
