Princess Maria Galitzine dies suddenly at age 31

Princess Maria Galitzine passed away at her Houston home, where she lived with her husband Rishi Roop and her two-year-old son Maxim.


A new tragedy has come to royalty. After the death of Princess María Teresa de Borbón-Parma , cousin of King Felipe VI of Spain, at the age of 86 due to coronavirus, now the unfortunate news of the death of Princess María Galitizine was released , Great-granddaughter of Charles I , the last Emperor of Austria and Empress Zita of Bourbon-Parma , at 31 years of age.

According to information from E! News , the death occurred on May 4 and his remains were buried on May 8 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. 

The cause of her death was a "sudden cardiac aneurysm" and this occurred at her home in Houston, where she lived with her husband, chef  Rishi Roop Singh , and her two-year-old son Maxim .

"Our Mary passed away on the morning of Monday, May 4, 2020, in Houston from a sudden cardiac aneurysm," the family told The Houston Chronicle.

Maria was the fourth of the six children of Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria and her husband, Prince Piotr Galitzine

During his childhood he lived in Russia with his parents, where he attended the German School in Moscow until he graduated.

Later she moved to Belgium, where she completed her studies at the College of Art and Design and thanks to her talent she worked as a designer and traveled to countries such as Brussels, Chicago and Houston, the latter being the place where she has been living for the past few years.

In September 2017, Maria and Rishi were married in a civil ceremony that took place at their parents' home. Soon after their bond, the couple welcomed their first child together.

In addition to her husband and son, Galitzine is survived by her parents, her sisters Tatiana ,   Xenia Galitzine de Matta  and  Princess Alexandra Galitzine , and her brothers,  Prince Dmitri Galitzine  and Ioann Galitzine .

Maria was characterized by being a very reserved person with a private life, so she preferred to stay out of the public focus.

In an interview with  The Houston Chronicle , her sister Tatiana assured that despite being part of the royalty they were raised in a "normal way" and that they only remembered that they were royals when they were invited to royal weddings.

Maria constantly turned to her Facebok profile to share some of the beautiful moments she was spending with her family.
