2020-05-14T05:37:55.639Z

Our proposal to discover or rediscover a high place of culture. Today, modern art and design, arte povera and contemporary installations within the MAMC +.

Exhibitions of African art, abstract art, collages and assemblies ... Entrances to a large Calder mobile in 1955, an abstract composition by Aurélie Nemours in 1959, a work by Enrico Baj in 1964… From 1947 to 1966, by his vision and his acquisitions, Maurice Allemand worked to transform what was then called the Museum of Art and Industry of Saint-Etienne into a Museum of modern art and contemporary (the current MAMC ++, the first museum of its kind created in the region in 1987). An exhibition recalling the action of this director will take place on site from November 30. It was scheduled earlier.

The place had closed last September and had briefly reopened after work in the amount of 570,000 euros funded by Saint-Etienne Métropole. Since then, reacting to the pandemic, he already offers for sale an e-ticket valid for one year from the date of purchase, for a one-day visit which may include the discovery of the Le Corbusier site, the largest complex in Europe of this master of 20th century architecture.

In the meantime, in partnership with Le Figaro, Facebook France and the CLIC.France network, Aurélie Voltz the director general of MAMC + and Alexandre Quelle, head of the scientific department, invite you to follow them in the shell of carbon black ceramic plates, at the interior of white cubes totaling 3,000 m² of exhibition space. Thursday May 14 at 6 p.m., we will discover or find in their company some of the 20,000 works kept there, in this Beaubourg province.

Focus on two very beautiful works by Kupka from the collection, the Blue Ribbon and The Shape of the Orange . Visit the temporary exhibition dedicated to the arte povera which has just ended, echoing in particular the recent death of the art critic Germano Celant. Visit to The White Balance of the Hong Kong painter painter Firenze Lai, presented for the first time in Europe.

In total, we should measure at MAMC +, particularly by its rich design collection (more than 1800 pieces of furniture, household appliances and other everyday objects), how much the good health of creation is a strong guarantee of industrial, economic and social development.

To discover, Thursday, May 14, from 6 p.m. on the MAMC + Facebook page as well as on its Instagram account.
