Grow radishes

Radishes are the classic for garden beginners . The red tubers have few soil requirements, require little maintenance and are ready for harvesting three to four weeks after sowing .

The vegetables can also be easily grown in the garden and on the balcony. Sow the radishes * in rows that are 15 centimeters apart , while the seeds themselves need about four centimeters. After that, they are only lightly covered with earth so that they still get light. Otherwise, you only need to water the tubers regularly - then you can soon enjoy them on bread or in a salad.

Grow garlic

If you still want to grow vegetables in autumn, then garlic * is the right choice. Between September and October is an ideal time to stick the cloves of garlic . But it still works in February. Turn the toe with the onion bottom down and press it into the ground about three centimeters. There should be a distance of 15 centimeters between the plants.

In the same year, green leaves will still form on the plants before they pause over the winter. Be sure to choose cloves of garlic that are used to our climate. You can find them in the hardware store or garden center. The toes from the supermarket mostly come from southern regions and are therefore not suitable for cultivation with us. In the summer after sticking, once the leaves have turned brown, you can harvest them.

Also interesting : If you forget this thing when growing vegetables, there is a risk of disease and pests.

Grow Swiss chard

Chard is not only easy to grow, the stems with their yellow, red, green colors are also great eye-catchers in the garden. The stems can also be eaten like asparagus, while the leaves are prepared like spinach.

Sowing begins in March or April directly in the garden soil in a sunny to partially shaded location. Leave about 20 centimeters between the plants and sow them three centimeters deep. About ten to twelve weeks later, Swiss chard is ready for harvest. If you only pick the outer leaves and leave the heart intact, fresh chard will keep coming.

Grow zucchini

If you want to grow zucchini, you will be richly rewarded: just two or three plants meet the needs of an entire family. If you are alone, one copy is sufficient.

If you want to grow zucchini * on the balcony, you should also consider that the plant can grow very large - it needs up to two square meters of space in the ground . Therefore, choose a pot with a capacity of at least 15 liters or look around for smaller growing varieties.
