The six contaminated employees exercised their professional activities in an area limited to 220 people, according to the ARS.

No less than six employees tested positive for Covid-19. After identifying a source of contamination in a Côtes-d'Armor slaughterhouse, the Brittany Regional Health Agency (ARS) announced this Friday in a press release that a massive screening campaign is underway.

“A report was sent on May 13 to the ARS by the Saint-Brieuc Hospital Center, relating to a patient diagnosed with Covid-19. The latter is employed as an external service provider for an agrifood company, ”says ARS.

"The first health surveys in the company carried out without delay by the ARS and Santé Publique France made it possible to highlight five other cases confirmed since May 9," continues the ARS. A source close to the file, it is one of the production sites of the Kermené group, a subsidiary of E.Leclerc distributor centers, located in the town of Mené.

Employees tested positive for Covid-19, whether external or internal to the company, exercised their professional activities in a limited area of the company of around 220 people, specifies the ARS. A massive employee screening campaign is underway this Friday.

Last week, an outbreak of coronavirus infection had been detected at a poultry site located in Essarts-en-Bocage (Vendée). Among the 700 employees of an agrifood company, eleven people tested positive for Covid-19 during a screening campaign.

The latter made it possible to reject the hypothesis of a "chain of transmission" on the spot and highlighting that of a "grouping of cases", revealed Tuesday at the prefecture. In Germany and the United States, slaughterhouses are in the sights of health authorities, who have conducted several epidemiological surveys to determine the genesis of the hundreds of contaminations identified among employees of several companies.
