The musical The Frozen will not return to New York, the production announced on Thursday, making this version of Disney's blockbuster film the first major Broadway production canceled due to a pandemic.

An emanation of the Disney group, the musical was launched in March 2018 at the St. James Theater, where it has been played for 851 times. "Some things are worth melting and today our hearts are melting with you," wrote the production on Frozen's Twitter account , its original name, in reference to the melting of snow.
According to the Broadway World site, it brought in $ 155 million at the box office and welcomed more than 1.35 million spectators. Another big-budget musical, Beetlejuice , had previously announced that it would not return, but it was actually an early end.
Indeed, she had already scheduled her last performance in early June even before the coronavirus disrupted the performances. Two plays, Hangmen and Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? , the premiere of which had not yet taken place, were also canceled, but it was a production with more limited means than a musical.
Avalanche of carryovers on the boards
The Broadway League trade association announced on Tuesday that Broadway theaters would remain closed until at least September 6. No recovery protocol has yet been announced by local authorities, nor is a date when the shows will be authorized again in New York State.
Tuesday the long-awaited resumption of the Plaza Suite , with Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, couple in the city, was officially postponed for a full year, from March 2020 to March 2021. Wednesday, it was the turn of the Musical MJ to delay her arrival on Broadway from early July to March 2021. Frozen's production has indicated that she has not given up touring the show in North America, or performing in London, Sydney, Hamburg and Tokyo.

The first performances in London are, for the moment, scheduled for late October and early December in Sydney. As for the North American tour, it should now theoretically start in Boston on September 9.
