Katie Stevens showed in a video the difficulties faced by a mother who has to work at home and take care of her children.

In recent months several families in different parts of the world have remained confined to their homes due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19 , this has generated a whole new family dynamic in the home, in which parents and children have to continue with your activities like school and work remotely.

Although it sounds very good, the truth is that there are several difficulties, especially for mothers, who have to juggle several times to keep working hours and care for their children . An example of this complicated situation is the video posted by Facebook user Katie Stevens on May 1.

In her post, the woman wrote, “This is what the first two hours of my workday looked like today. This is quite normal and now that Richard (his partner) has returned to normal business hours, this will be normal until I do not know when. "

The mother even joked about food, “Yes, what is on the table is whipped cream for breakfast. I'm out of worry. "

The home office is heavier for women

In a society where women still carry out various household tasks despite working professionally, the pandemic further complicated the situation.

In an article published by the New York Times, it is mentioned that before the health emergency, women spent 4 hours a day doing unpaid household chores such as cleaning, shopping for food, washing clothes, and preparing food. For their part, men barely allocated 2.5 hours a day for these tasks.

The newspaper mentions that for women that time increased with the pandemic since now they add tasks such as supporting their children with their studies, helping elderly relatives and even caring for more vulnerable friends in this situation.

But the situation is more complicated for mothers without a partner, according to the aforementioned media, in the United States , 40% of households with children under the age of 18 are headed by women .

The portal The Entrepreneur listed a series of recommendations so that mothers can have a good balance between work and childcare during this period of confinement.

1. Communication : It is important to talk to the children constantly and communicate that teamwork is required in order to carry out work and school tasks. The most important thing is honesty, so that the children understand that there will be times when you will not be able to pay attention to them.

2. Flexibility : Make a daily plan with established schedules to eat food, work, studies, entertainment and rest; however, you have to be flexible and not generate stress if the plan cannot be followed to the letter.

3. Take advantage of time : Even in the face of a health emergency, we can be positive and save moments of tension with family members, which can occur due to the large amount of time spent together. So when there is time, take advantage of it with your family members with a good conversation, games or other activities that can generate a better connection.
