Berlin (dpa) - In the fight against the corona pandemic, the federal states are now responsible for the gradual opening of public life. The loosening is usually carried out under conditions such as distance and hygiene regulations. In addition, the nationwide mask requirement in trade and local transport continues to apply.

Here is the current status (May 14) in the countries for some selected areas of life:

1. Restaurants

- Baden-Württemberg: Diner restaurants may reopen from May 18th.

- Bavaria: Beer gardens and outdoor areas should open from May 18, indoor areas from May 25.

- Berlin: Dining in restaurants should be possible from May 15th.

- Brandenburg: Restaurants should be allowed to reopen on May 15th.

- Bremen: Restaurant visits are possible from May 18. Guest lists with names and contact details are required.

- Hamburg: Restaurants have been open again since Wednesday.

- Hessen: Restaurants are allowed to open again from May 15th.

- Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: restaurants are open. One guest per table must leave their details.

- Lower Saxony: Restaurants are open, but may only allocate a maximum of half of their seats.

- North Rhine-Westphalia: restaurants are open. Among other things, the contact details of each visitor must be registered.

- Rhineland-Palatinate: Restaurants have been allowed to reopen since Wednesday, among other things, opening hours are limited and seats on counters are taboo for guests.

- Saarland: Restaurant visits are possible from May 18.

- Saxony: Restaurants may reopen from May 15th. Menus must be wipeable.

- Saxony-Anhalt: The restaurants are allowed to reopen on May 22nd - even on May 18th with a special permit from the district.

- Schleswig-Holstein: Dining in restaurants is possible from May 18.

- Thuringia: Restaurants can open from May 15th.

2. Hotels and apartments

- Baden-Württemberg: Apartments can reopen on May 18, hotels from May 29.

- Bavaria: The aim is to open it by May 30th.

- Berlin: Hotels and apartments can open from May 25th.

- Brandenburg: Hotels and apartments will accept guests from May 25th.

- Bremen: Hotels and apartments may open from May 18th.

- Hamburg: Hotels and apartments can open since Wednesday.

- Hessen: From May 15th, hotels and holiday apartments are allowed to accept tourists

- Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Hotels and apartments will open to residents of the federal state from May 18, for all others until May 25, entry is prohibited.

- Lower Saxony: Vacation homes may be operated, hotels should follow from May 25th with a maximum occupancy of 50 percent.

- North Rhine-Westphalia: holiday apartments can be used for tourism again, hotels should follow from May 18.

- Rhineland-Palatinate: Hotels and holiday apartments may reopen to tourists from May 18.

- Saarland: Hotels and holiday apartments may reopen from May 18.

- Saxony: Hotels and apartments should be able to reopen from May 15th.

- Saxony-Anhalt: Apartments are to open from May 15th, hotels are to follow on May 22nd - initially for guests from their own country. Shortly thereafter, visits from other regions should also be possible.

- Schleswig-Holstein: Visits are possible from May 18.

- Thuringia: Hotels and apartments may open from May 15th.

3. Contact conditions

- Baden-Württemberg: You can also stay outside with members of another household. Meetings with siblings and their families as well as people from another household are possible in private rooms.

- Bavaria: Several members of two households can meet in both private and public spaces.

- Berlin: Several members of two households can meet in both private and public spaces.

- Brandenburg: Contacts from two households are allowed - at home and outdoors.

- Bremen: Several relatives from two households can meet in the public space.

- Hamburg: Up to ten members of two households can meet again without maintaining a minimum distance of 1.50 meters.

- Hessen: Relatives of two households are allowed to travel together in public spaces.

- Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Several members of two households can meet in public and private spaces.

- Lower Saxony: Relatives of two households can meet in public.

- North Rhine-Westphalia: Members from two families can meet in public.

- Rhineland-Palatinate: Relatives from up to two households can meet in the public space.

- Saarland: Relatives from up to two households can meet inside and outside.

- Saxony: From May 15th, two households can meet.

- Saxony-Anhalt: Meetings of up to five people are allowed, even if they do not live together in one household.

- Schleswig-Holstein: Several members of two households can meet in both private and public spaces.

- Thuringia: Members of two households have been able to meet since Wednesday.

4. Schools and day care centers

- Baden-Württemberg: Many students are already going to school again. In mid-June, all students should receive face-to-face classes at least temporarily. According to a decision by the Corona steering group, day care centers may reopen for a maximum of 50 percent of children from May 18. The change to the Corona regulation is expected to be officially announced on Friday or Saturday.

- Bavaria: Some cohorts are back in schools, only after the Pentecost holidays in mid-June should all pupils go to school at least on a daily basis. Emergency care is usually still available in the daycare centers.

- Berlin: By the summer, every daycare child should again receive childcare. By the end of May, all students with fewer hours should go to school.

- Brandenburg: All Brandenburg children can go back to school or daycare from May 25th until the summer holidays at the end of June - at least on a daily basis.

- Bremen: From June 1st, all preschool children will return to daycare centers. From May 18, classes 1-3 will gradually be brought back to primary schools.

- Hamburg: From May 25th, all pupils should receive lessons in the school at least once a week. Daycare centers will gradually go into regular operation from May 18.

- Hessen: Kindergartens are to gradually switch to normal operation at the beginning of June. Classes in schools have gradually started again.

- Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: From Thursday onwards, all pupils should be able to return to school step by step. On May 25, a limited entry into day care for the daycare should take place.

- Lower Saxony: The return to regular operations in the daycare centers is planned for August 1st. Students of all classes should be able to go to school before the summer holidays if possible.

- North Rhine-Westphalia: Daycare children and schoolchildren are gradually returning. From the end of May, all pupils should receive face-to-face classes on a daily basis, and from September there should be "limited regular operation" for all daycare children.

- Rhineland-Palatinate: Classes have started again gradually, all pupils should go to school again by mid-June. The daycare centers are open to everyone until the summer holidays at the latest.

- Saarland: In daycare centers and schools, there should be "regular operation as possible" by the summer vacation at the latest.

- Saxony: Saxony's daycare centers and primary schools are to open to all children in restricted regular operation from May 18. Pupils in secondary schools are to be at least partially reintroduced to schools from May 18.

- Saxony-Anhalt: By the start of the Pentecost holidays on May 18, all class levels should return to schools for at least one day for direct exchange with their teachers. At daycare centers, models are discussed in which children take turns going to daycare.

- Schleswig-Holstein: All pupils should go to school on a daily basis - until when is it unclear. From June 1st, day care will be restricted in the daycare centers.

- Thuringia: The municipalities can decide for themselves whether restricted regular operations should start in the kindergartens from May 18. This should start in all daycare centers by June 15 at the latest. In the schools, all pupils should be able to take face-to-face classes again after Pentecost.

5. Museums and cinemas

- Baden-Württemberg: Museums are allowed to open again, cinemas remain closed.

- Bavaria: Museums are open, cinemas are closed for now.

- Berlin: Museums can open again, cinemas have to stay for the time being.

- Brandenburg: Museums can open again, there are no opening dates for cinemas yet.

- Bremen: Museums can open again. Cinemas remain closed.

- Hamburg: Museums can open again, cinemas remain closed for now.

- Hessen: Museums are allowed to open again, principally cinemas too, if they can guarantee hygiene and distance rules.

- Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Museums can open again, 25 May is under discussion at cinemas.

- Lower Saxony: Museums can open again, cinemas are closed.

- North Rhine-Westphalia: museums are open. Cinemas may reopen from May 30 with significantly reduced visitor numbers.

- Rhineland-Palatinate: Museums are allowed to open again, cinemas are still closed.

- Saarland: Museums can open again, there is no information yet for cinemas.

- Saxony: museums are open again, cinemas are still closed.

- Saxony-Anhalt: Museums are allowed to open. Cinemas are still closed.

- Schleswig-Holstein: Museums are open, cinemas may reopen from May 18 with significantly reduced visitor numbers.

- Thuringia: Museums are allowed to open, there is still no opening date for cinemas.
