The airline industry has been hit very hard over the past few months. Flights to Ben Gurion Airport have been canceled almost completely and Ramon Airport has been completely shut down. In recent days we are seeing a resurgence of the airline and tourism industry, airlines announcing the return of activity on lines to Israel The destination.

Now, we are publishing here for the first time a list of airlines that have applied to fly to the new Ramon Airport this winter already. Ramon Airport was very attractive in the pre-Corona era, mainly due to low airfares, providing benefits to the airlines that arrived and the quick access to summer holidays in Eilat for tourists arriving from Europe. At the same time, Ramon Airport is expected to implement the same advanced technologies presented at Ben Gurion if necessary. Remember, Ben Gurion has installed thermal cameras that measure heat, with the help of an American passenger who tried to enter the terminal with heat today. In addition, Ben Gurion Airport has installed cameras that check whether passengers arrive with masks, separations between employees and passengers, marking on the floor for social remoteness, disinfecting posts and many other means of protection.

So far, seven airlines have applied for flights this winter, most of them from Luccost. The largest company to apply is Lufthansa, which plans to operate a weekly flight on the Eilat-Frankfurt line. Finair has applied for a weekly flight to Helsinki, ASL and Transasavia France has applied for a weekly flight to Paris, two flights in total, Tansavia Holland has applied for two weekly flights to Amsterdam.

Two of the more active LOCOST companies on Eilat's lines, Wiz Air and Rainier have also applied for a number of destinations each. Rainier applied for 16 weekly flights from eight destinations: Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Kaunas, Warsaw and Bergamo. Weiz applied for 12 weekly flights from five destinations: Warsaw, Vienna, Riga, Bucharest and Sofia.

In the near future, more companies are expected to apply for flights to Ramon Airport, including Russian airlines, other Lukust companies, and it may also appear that big companies will jump on finding a good-weather resort in almost all seasons and attractive benefits to airlines flying to it. It is important to emphasize that until this winter there may be changes in the morbidity situation in Israel and the world and airlines are subject to the same changes, these are requests from airlines to fly to Eilat.
