So far, Sony has been silent, but industry insiders say the Playstation 5 launch is coming soon.

  • Sony is still reluctant to introduce the Playstation 5.
  • Several industry experts have now given an appointment.
  • The PS5 will soon be unveiled.

We've known what the Xbox Series X * will look like for quite a while. Microsoft already presented its own next-gen console at the end of 2019. Meanwhile, Sony continues to fidget its fans. However, according to several industry experts, the launch of the Playstation 5 is also imminent.

Playstation 5 is scheduled for launch in June

Recently, the well-informed video game journalist Jason Schreier spoke in the Press Start podcast (via wccftech) about a planned appointment from Sony at which the PS5 * will be presented. He expects this to take place between early and mid-June . However, due to the corona virus crisis, he could not rule out a delay in the event. At Sony, everything is still going according to schedule. The company recently confirmed this itself - the planned release date of the PS5 for the Christmas season 2020 * is still planned.

Venturebeat's games journalist Jeff Grubb recently even announced a specific date for Sony's planned event. For the first time he mentioned June 4 in a forum post as a planned date.

But this does not seem to  be set in stone . Because, according to Grubb, Sony plans to unveil the PS5 on a different date (via Venturebeat). However, it should only be postponed by a few days - this is not a week-long delay. The Sony event will definitely take place in early June .

In the meantime, however, he was no longer sure whether the presentation of the console was still intended for this appointment. It was possible, but he could not confirm this. Should Sony still wait for the unveiling, according to Grubb, the PS5 will be presented at the latest as part of another "State of Play" event in August .

What will be shown at the beginning of June?

Sony will almost certainly announce numerous next-gen games * at the event in early June. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida recently revealed in a company meeting that " a convincing line-up of game titles " will soon be presented (via VGC).

Will the color of the PS5 be white?

There was a first taste of the PS5 : Sony introduced the DualSense *, the official controller of the PS5 , a while ago . Leaker recently claimed to already know the price of the DualSense *. What is particularly striking about the controller is the unusual white design , which was not well received by every Playstation fan. This also gave rise to speculation that the standard version of the console could possibly get the same color.

Ultimately, the design * shouldn't matter to most players as long as the improvements to the next-gen come into play. Epic developers recently demonstrated what this could look like with a gameplay demo on the PS5 *.
