(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, MAY 19 - The 4-day curfew imposed in Turkey to counter the spread of Covid-19 ends at midnight.
The lockdown was prolonged compared to the previous closings only on weekends by taking advantage of the festive bridge for the National Day dedicated to the commemoration of Ataturk, youth and sport, which is celebrated today. The anniversary recalls the symbolic beginning of the Turkish War of Independence, with the arrival of the father of the homeland Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1919 in Samsun, on the Black Sea coast.
Last night, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that a new curfew will be imposed in the whole country on Saturday next Tuesday, to coincide with the Ramadan holidays.
