In recent days, the Ministry of Health, together with other government ministries, are examining tourism agreements with various countries that have succeeded in overcoming the spread of the Corona virus. Countries include Cyprus, Austria, Greece, Seychelles, Georgia and Montenegro. All of these countries are known to the Israeli tourist even before the Corona period, and on the face of it, these agreements seem to be in demand because, apart from Seychelles, which lasts six hours, all other countries are also geographically to Israel.

Initially, when the agreements began to form, it was reported that only citizens of those countries could move for tourism purposes, thus preventing the entry of citizens from infected countries outside the agreement. On the face of it, it seems like the right move, but yesterday the Greek media reported that the Greek government has decided to open its doors to every tourist arriving from the European Union and Israel from July 1 at the latest, and probably the opening of the gates will take place even before.

Greece has been able to cope with the spread of the virus, but according to reports, citizens of Spain, Italy, France, Germany and other EU countries with high morbidity rates can come and relax alongside holidaymakers from Israel. At present, it is unclear how Greece will operate and probes will be taken and strict precautions will be taken to prevent a second outbreak of the virus in the neighboring country.

The decision was made yesterday, according to reports in the Greek media, but has not yet been officially announced. In the European Union, Greece pressed to open its doors first to the EU countries and then to non-EU countries. "The decision to open state gates to tourists from the EU and Israel stems from the desire to assist the tourism industry in a country that is an important economic growth engine," the Greek media reports.

Greece has already announced that it will be mandatory to wear masks at the airport, all rules of social remoteness will be maintained as much as possible at airports and hotels, which will be disinfected regularly, following all local Ministry of Health recommendations. The Greek government has already announced that it will provide significant economic assistance to the local tourism industry, which is considered very significant to the country's economy.

Despite the news of a vacation with Europeans, do not rush to cancel your flight tickets to Greece. It is important to wait for further developments and decisions of the authorities. Currently, there are tests that allow results in less than an hour and it is likely that Greece and other countries that allow tourists to enter will take many precautions and probably also have rapid corona detection tests, so that if all tourists enter the country, the chance of the virus passing through tourists is low.
