"We found a lodging": to see each other despite the 100 km rule, they meet halfway

2020-05-22T10:17:06.707Z

To see relatives distant more than 100 km (but less than 200 km), some French people decided to share the road and pass the t

The project matured for several days, the distances calculated with precision and the point of fall quickly found. Confronted with the ban on moving further than 100 km from their home to continue to curb the coronavirus pandemic, Michel and Sabine had to use their imagination to be able to see their loved ones from whom they have been distant for months.

They made their calculations as soon as Edouard Philippe announced the measure. The couple, located south of Marmande (Lot-et-Garonne), quickly understood that it was impossible to go to visit their daughter and children in the Pyrenees. The family therefore decided to find themselves halfway, in the department of Gers. "It is a friend who lends us the house for the day," explains the retired teacher. We will all enjoy the garden, the pool, and share our first meal together since this winter. My two little girls must have grown up well, and even though I spoke to them with a video application, I missed seeing them too much. "

Each of the two convoys will therefore have a two hour drive. “We did not hesitate. We haven't been able to share much in recent months, we may well share kilometers ”, puts Sabine into perspective.

"I hadn't seen my sister since last July"

Mohamed and Noria, they hesitated a bit more before deciding to meet this Sunday. "It took a long time to find the best screenplay," laugh the brother and sister. The accountant lives in Blois (Loir-et-Cher) but does not have a permit. His brother lives near Montereau, in Seine-et-Marne. So they decided that she would take the train to Orléans (Loiret) and that he would pick her up at the station. "We might take advantage of the car to go for a walk in the corner just to get some fresh air," explains the young thirty-something.

One thing is certain: they will take advantage of the moment, which they have been waiting for too long. "Our parents do not live in France, and it was a long time for my brother and I to be isolated like this," explains Noria, who says that the confinement made her realize that it would be "simpler" than she and her brother live closer to each other.

Distance is also a problem that Delphine and her husband had to face. The couple and their two children had been on a world tour for several months when the Covid-19 epidemic began to paralyze the whole world. "We were repatriated but as our apartment was still rented until the end of the summer, we found refuge in a family house in Cantal," she explains.

She then began to calculate who she could go to see within a 100 km radius. “We have friends in Saint-Etienne (Loire), family in Millau (Aveyron), but my sister was a little further in Lyon. I hadn't seen her since last July, we looked where we could end up on the road, she explains. We found a cottage to rent halfway, perfect for everyone to live together for several days. On the 80 km of the journey, Delphine was not checked once. “Fortunately because in this whole story, I have no document justifying my domicile in Cantal! "
