Coronavirus: over 5.3 million infections worldwide, 342 thousand died

   Coronavirus infections in the world have exceeded 5.3 million while the deaths are more than 342 thousand. This was noted by the usual update by Johns Hopkins on the progress of the pandemic.

    As far as deaths are concerned, the country with the largest number remains the United States with almost 100 thousand victims (97,087), followed by the United Kingdom (36,757). The United States also ranks first for the number of infections (over 1.62 million), followed by Brazil (347 thousand) and Russia (344 thousand).

Usa, 2 infected hairdressers, possibly 140 infections - Two Missouri hairdressers who went to work regularly despite presenting with Covid-19 symptoms potentially exposed 140 clients to coronavirus. The two hairdressers, both from the Great Clips unisex salon chain, went to work for at least eight days. 

China, 3 new cases and 36 additional asymptomatic - China has recorded three new cases of coronavirus, one of which is domestic transmission in Jilin and two imported, one in Shanghai and one in Guangdong, while 36 new asymptomatic cases have been detected. Total infections rose to 82,974, with deaths stuck at 4,634. Those recovered stood at 78,261 and 79 patients still under medical treatment fell. Imported cases reached 1,713, of which 1,673 healings and 40 still under treatment. Asymptomatics rose to 371, all under close medical observation.

South Korea, 25 cases in the past 24 hours - South Korea has reported 25 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. The known infections are 11,190, including 266 deaths. Of the 25 new cases, 17 are internal and eight are 'imported' by people from abroad. So far 10,213 people have recovered in South Korea.

India, more than 6,700 cases in 24 hours, still record - India has recorded 6,767 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours after 6,654 of the previous 24 hours: this is the strongest daily increase ever recorded since the start of the Pandemic in the country. The new infections bring the total to 131,868: so far 3,867 people in the country have died from the disease.

Argentina, quarantine extended until June 7  - President Alberto Fernández has announced a new extension of social, preventive and compulsory isolation until June 7 inclusive. The intensity of the quarantine, explained in a press conference, will be different in the different provinces. In the country there are 10,649 infections and 639 dead.
