Nearly 200,000 Israelis visited Thailand last year, one of Israel's favorite tourist destinations. Since the outbreak of the crisis, Thailand has been one of the first countries to be closed, EL AL flights to the country have been discontinued and since then, Israeli and international tourists have been making their way out of the country and are not allowed to enter it.
Now reports are coming from Thailand that the country will open its gates to tourists as early as July 1, in just over a month. Currently Thailand is completely closed to tourists and the country has remained Israelis who failed to leave and those who chose to stay in Thailand and spend the last few months there.
It is important to note that while Thailand is expected to open its doors to tourists, Israelis may not be the first to be allowed to visit it. As is the case in our region, it is also expected to happen in Thailand which will probably allow Chinese and Malaysians to visit it in the first phase, later in the country will open to more countries in Asia and abroad.
Bear Kalman, who represents the Thai Ministry of Tourism in Israel, commented, "Thailand is likely to open the sky soon, but we probably will not be able to enter there as Israelis in the first phase. ".
At the same time, the Thailand Travel Center reports an increase in invitations from the announcement that came out this morning with dozens of new invitations and growing interest from Israelis who missed visiting Thailand. On the Gulliver site, we looked at data on vacation demand in Thailand - this past week saw a 45% increase in searches and an 11% increase in bookings compared to the week before.
