A Bournemouth player whose identity has not been disclosed is one of the last two coronavirus positives in England, bringing the number of players infected in the Premier League to eight. "According to the Premier League protocols for positive tests, he will have to stay in solitary confinement for a period of seven days before being tested at a later date," Bournemouth said in a statement.
For the rest of the team, the training sessions authorized last Tuesday will continue in the club's facilities, in accordance with the strict rules decided by the governing body of English football. "The club's training ground remains a safe working environment for the players and staff, who will continue to undergo the Covid-19 drug tests twice a week," added the club. The revelation of this positive case in Bournemouth comes after the Premier League has announced two new Covid-19 positive cases, in two different clubs, out of 996 people tested Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Six people were positive during the previous exams conducted on ;; 17 and 18 May out of 748 people who did not reveal their identities or their clubs. Known cases include Watford defender Adrian Mariappa and Burnley assistant coach Ian Woan. The resumption of the English football championship is expected in June, despite the persistent threat of the coronavirus.
