(ANSA) - NEW YORK, MAY 28 - The Boston marathon is definitely gone. It is the first time in the 124-year history of the race, which is held every year on the third Monday of April. Because of the pandemic, the marathon had been postponed to September 14th but, in light of the developments, Mayor Marty Walshha decided that it would not be safe to have it run.
The marathon contributes to the Boston economy annually for over $ 200 million. About 30 milardsone participate. Meanwhile, the fate of the New York marathon remains uncertain. The race remains scheduled for November 1st, but the organizers have already canceled all events until August 15th. Any decision will be made by that date.
This year the New York marathon, called the most beautiful race in the world, celebrates its 50th edition.
