Demi Lovato, Resident, Anuel AA and more famous react to the death of George Floyd

George Floyd's death is causing outrage on the networks. Even several celebrities raised their voices to show their support for the African American man.


The death of George Floyd , an African American man, who died last Monday, May 26 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after a white policeman left him immobilized, is causing outrage.

Through social networks, a series of images began to circulate in which the moment in which the agent places his knee firmly on the back of the neck of the 46-year-old man, while moaning in pain and pleading that set it free.

According to information from NBC News , so far four officers have been fired and the facts continue to be investigated by the FBI.

This Tuesday different demonstrations began to ask for justice for George. Even several celebrities joined and raised their voices publicly to show their support for Floyd and his family.

One of the first to react was the African-American screenwriter Ava DuVernay , who used her Twitter account to report the abuse George suffered.

"You deserved your encouragement, your dignity, your life. Not to die on the street, killed by a white policeman's knee to your neck," he said.

"You deserve our tears, our prayers, our anger, our action. We must act, for you and for all those who do not have cameras present," he said.

On Instagram, Demi Lovato pointed to George's death as an act of racism and believes that "the black community lives in danger."

"This is not right. And it won't stop until everyone does their part. Especially the whites," said the 27-year-old singer. "I said it recently and I will say it again, do not let your discomfort around social problems prevent you from speaking out in defense of those in danger," he said.

Resident posted the heartbreaking video and accompanied him on a call to the entire Latino community to seek justice in memory of Floyd.

"This criminal act has to be condemned! I ask the entire Latin American community in the United States to please mobilize until the murderous police officer, Derek Chauvin , is in prison," he wrote.

Through the stories section, Anuel AA strongly criticized the police. "The biggest mafia in the world are the police ... If it had been the other way round, they would have given 30 years or life in prison to the man. God must be very disappointed in this world," he said.

British supermodel  Naomi Campbell  also shared her feelings and said she is tired of knowing that "people die unnecessarily."

"I have no words. I am tired of this, tired of being sad because our people die unnecessarily. Harassed and humiliated in these difficult times, I thought we could unite, but it seems that this coronavirus has bought more racism in a major way," he said. "I am black and I am proud," she concluded forcefully.

"This just burns," actor John Boyega tweeted . "It seems to be an endless cycle. Assassins must be severely accused. Even in the face of death, this man received zero empathy," he wrote.

Luis Fonsi also spoke out against the injustice suffered by the man from Houston, Texas.

"I can't get this image out of my head! I can't keep quiet either. Every day innocent people die because of the color of their skin. This man was killed. His life mattered. Rest in peace," said the Puerto Rican interpreter.

Eva Longoria posted a photo of George and wrote a profound message: "My heart hurts every time I read the news! When is this going to stop? ... We are all humans who deserve to be protected, not killed," said the actiz.

Penelope Cruz , Marc Jacobs , Jessica Alba , Zoe Kravitz , DJ Khaled , Roselyn Sanchez and Michael B . Jordan were other artists who protested the death of the African American man.

According to the local Star Tribune newspaper , George Floyd lived in St. Louis Park, outside Minneapolis, and was nicknamed Big Floyd.

He worked at the Minneapolis Latino restaurant Conga Latino Bistro as a security employee, according to business owners.
