During the quarantine, several women have undergone a chemical peel at home with horrible consequences: third degree burns to the face.

The confinement in which we have been in these times of coronavirus has led us to get creative in our homes, and since beauty salons and spas have been closed and changing their rules to avoid infections, we have had to find homemade solutions for our Beauty treatments.

Unfortunately, things don't always go well, as has been the case for several women who tried to get a chemical peel and ended up with third degree burns to their faces.

Recently, a New York nurse specializing in skin care procedures shared shocking images on social media of the horrific results obtained by several people who tried a "DIY Chemical Peel."

Zoe Gazola's intention was to warn women of how terrible it can be to use a product as delicate as this, and at the same time, she wants the websites that sell these treatments to be stricter in their marketing policies, as they should not be used by those who are not professionally engaged in it.

With his 12 years of experience in this field, his message is clear: you should not use these products at home .

"There has been an increase in incidents of people trying 'do-it-yourself' medical treatments, especially now during quarantine," Gazola told BuzzFeed News .

"Many women contacted me asking for advice on what to do [after] they bought illegal chemical peels online and from Amazon and other things," she added.

Zoe explained that such a peel is essentially a "controlled chemical burn," so it should only be done by a professional.

"With each layer you apply, you go deeper into the skin. If you don't know what you are doing or what to look for, you will cause permanent damage," he added.

On Instagram, along with two photos showing the horrible burns suffered by a woman across the length and breadth of her face, the nurse wrote, "I worked at UC burn for a couple of years and none of them It resulted in a 'blaze.' These desperate steps people take are sure to make an impression for life. "

According to the nurse, several women have illegally purchased these types of chemicals online, while others have gotten chemical peels on Amazon, before turning to Facebook groups and YouTube tutorials for guidance.

In the alarming photos that appear on Dr. Zoe Gazola's social account, we see the case of a woman who applied a peel with 35% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) at home, a substance that the expert described as "extremely high and dangerous. "

In his plea to prevent such damage from recurring, he asked people to leave chemical peels in the hands of professionals, adding: "I know that many people are really desperate to do anything and everything to be beautiful and save themselves a But always, always, always costs three times the dollar amount to correct something.
