(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, MAY 28 - US GDP dropped by 5% in the first quarter of the year, higher than the 4.8% contraction recorded in the first reading. These are the first effects of the health emergency on the macro-economic data of the first world power. Unemployment claims in the United States last week increased by 2.12 million after 2.44 million in the previous week. Over 40 million Americans, about one in four workers, have lost their jobs and applied for unemployment benefits since the start of the pandemic.
