After two months without new cases of coronavirus, the city of Necochea had enabled multiple commercial activities and even recreational outings. However, in the last hours,Six infected and almost 60 potential cases were detected after a clandestine baby shower that brought together more than 20 people.
In the celebration (in which the future or recent arrival of a baby is celebrated), the children of a 49-year-old woman who works in a nursing home and who tested positive for Covid-19 were present.
The woman lives with her mother and two of her three children. On Saturday, May 16, the son who lives in another home took maths with his mother and then went to the baby shower with one of his brothers. It was then that the contagion network began.
"We questioned the two families who participated in the event and we know that they are hiding a lot of information. There are several people who came to say hello, removed a souvenir and left . We are putting together a map with the possible infected, but it is still incomplete. All were more two hours without a mask and in a space where social distancing was not respected, "explained Ruth Kalle, the secretary of Health of the municipality of Necochea
According to the official, the souvenirs that were delivered at the party were made by the woman infected with coronavirus who works in the nursing home. "I doubt that the lady has made the souvenirs with a chinstrap on," he warned.
This Thursday, 44 swabs were performed throughout the city. The Municipality's health team sent 30 of them to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INE) in the city of Mar del Plata, of which 11 were processed. Of that total, 6 were negative and 5 positive.
"Today we are going to continue with the swabs, along with the police who are intervening. There is an open criminal case and of course there will be sanctions, " he said.
One of the 49-year-old woman's sons is a bricklayer and works on a construction site with five companions, with whom "he shared some mates," Kalle revealed to the Necochea newspaper Cuatro Vientos.
"People are distressed, because they want to know what the focus is and who the infected people are, so that they are not in danger," said the official.
Lastly, he warned that this fact "reconsiders the continuity of the flexibility measures that were being implemented during this phase four of social isolation, preventive and compulsory," he concluded.
