Coronavirus in Argentina: confirmed another 8 deaths and 769 new cases in the last 24 hours

In a new daily record, the Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed this Thursday another 8 deaths and 769 new cases of coronavirus detected in the country in the last 24 hours.

This is the report with the most positives since the start of the pandemic. The previous one had been on May 24 last, with 723. In total, Argentina has 14,702 infections and 508 fatalities. 

In the morning, in the usual morning report, the health portfolio headed by Ginés González García reported on the death of a 79-year-old woman residing in the province of Buenos Aires.

Hours later , seven deaths were added : five men (two aged 91 and 90 from the City of Buenos Aires, two aged 71 and 34 from the Province and one aged 87 from Chaco) and two women (one aged 78 from the Province and the other from CABA 44).

Unlike previous days, there was an increase in the number of territories where cases were detected. Of the new positives, 425 belong to the Federal Capital, 299 to the Province, 28 to Chaco, seven to Río Negro, three to Neuquén and Chubut, two to Misiones and one to Jujuy, Corrientes and Entre Ríos.

According to official information, 8,815 people are studying the disease, while 4,617 were discharged. Of the infected, 48.9% are women and 51.1%, men. The main affected age groups correspond to patients between 20 and 59 years old, with an average age of 37.

The incidence rate in the country is 30.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the mortality rate is 11 cases per million inhabitants.

More than 90% of the cases detected on Wednesday were in the City and Greater Buenos Aires.

In heading the daily report, the Secretary for Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti , highlighted the "stability" of new cases reported in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), where 95% of confirmed positives were registered on Wednesday. the whole country.

"The situation is stable, we can see in recent days that the number of cases has stabilized . That is good," said the official, referring to the geographical space that the City of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires suburbs share.

According to Vizzotti, the "stability trend" should be "further analyzed", "redouble efforts to sustain it and redouble efforts to decrease it" since there is "the possibility of doing so". He also recalled that while "the vast majority of the country is in the scheduled reopening phase" the AMBA "requires more attention and action."

Regarding the rest of the country, he mentioned some sectors of Córdoba, Río Negro and Neuquén in which he works "to control some detected cases" and in Chaco to improve the situation in the Great Resistance.
