Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle returned in detail on the life and the past of Georges Floyd. Native of North Carolina, he had moved, still very young, in the district of Third Ward in Houston. During his college and high school years, he made a name for himself among the best players in American football and basketball, notably at Yates and South Florida Community College.

It was upon his return to Houston that George Floyd began to play music. He joined the Screwed Up Click, a hip-hop group launched in the early 1990s in the Texas city.

Its founder DJ Screw is particularly known for having invented the mix technique of "Chopped and screwed". During his artistic period, George was nicknamed "Big Floyd" and had participated in various DJ Screw mixtapes.

"I would like these officers to be charged with murder because that is exactly what they did. They murdered my brother; he was calling for help, " said Bridgett Floyd, George's sister to NBC Today. For the moment, the four police officers involved in the case have been dismissed.
