PS5: In one point even better than high-end PCs

The PS5 will do more than the PS4 in many ways. Sony promises that the loading times in particular will be significantly shorter.

PS5 is 100 times faster than PS4

In an internal company meeting, Sony boss Kenchiro Yoshida discussed some points regarding the PS5  . For this reason, Sony would have developed an in-house SSD - a data storage device - that can process data 100 times faster than is possible with the PS4. This means that the loading times in games are much shorter and you can move around much more smoothly in large game worlds than is currently possible. Epic Games recently demonstrated what this could look like with a tech demo on the PS5 *.

PS5 is even said to outperform high-end PCs

Shortly after the tech demo from Epic Games, the CEO and founder of the studio, Tim Sweeney, also commented on the performance of Sony's in-house SSD. In a stream as part of Game Fest 2020, Sweeney said: "Sony's storage system is absolutely world class . Not just the best on consoles, but the best on any platform. Even better than high-end PCs ." According to Sweeney, the days of loading screens with the next-gen are over. Also, the fact that the game environments only appear when passing through should no longer happen.

PS5 release at the end of 2020: Sony is sticking to the planned launch date
