(ANSA) - PALERMO, MAY 29 - Sudden acceleration of eruptive activity on Etna last night where an increase in Strombolian activity was recorded at the New Southeast Crater. The explosive phase produced a volcanic ash cloud that reached 4,500 meters high and is dispersed in a south-west direction. The phenomenon, according to Ingv-Oedi Catania, after three hours had a sharp decrease with the emission of ash confined throughout the summit area of the volcano. The explosive activity at the Voragine crater has not undergone any changes, with periodic ash emission which rapidly disperses near the summit area.
The amplitude of the volcanic tremor is decreasing and is now on average values.
