Fish biodiversity - it is observed - is "constantly threatened. In fact, the quality of inland waters has only been positively assessed in 40% of cases in Europe and Italy". Among the most threatened species, the trotamediterranea (salmo cettii), extinct in many Italian rivers and replaced by the alloctona Atlantic trout (salmo trutta) or its hybrids.
