The iPhone 11 has become the most popular smartphone in the world, surpassing the results achieved a year ago by the iPhone XR despite the coronavirus epidemic having contracted the market. According to Omdia analysts, the iPhone 11 was the most popular phone on a global scale in the first quarter of the year, with 19.5 million units delivered. The iPhone XR had stopped at 13.6 million units in the first quarter of 2019.
In second place among the best-selling smartphones in the first three months of 2020 is Samsung's Galaxy A51 with 6.8 million pieces. Xiaomi's Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro follow with 6.6 and 6.1 million smartphones respectively.
In fifth place the iPhone XR (4.7 million) precedes the iPhone 11 Pro Max (4.2 million). The ranking continues with the Galaxy A10s (3.9 million), the iPhone 11 Pro (3.8 million), the Galaxy S20 Plus 5G (3.5 million) and the Galaxy A30s (3.4 million).
Looking at 5G smartphones, Samsung's Galaxy S20 Plus 5G opens the ranking, ahead of Huawei's Mate 30 5G (2.9 million) and Mate 30 Pro 5G (2.7 million), the Galaxy S20 5G (2.4 million) and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (2.3 million).
