Until June 21 minimum, public gatherings remain limited to ten people, announced Edouard Philippe. The musical event may therefore not take place on the streets of the country. For its part, France 2 is preparing a live concert without audience.

Franck Riester had promised "a big meeting" on June 21. But this year, the Fête de la musique should take place without spectators. Gatherings of more than ten people in public space are indeed prohibited at least until June 21, announced yesterday the Prime MinisterCamélia Jordana during his speech to present phase 2 of the deconfinement. This automatically eliminates cultural and sporting events, suspended for the time being until the deadline revealed by Edouard Philippe.

The organization of the event, which usually marks the start of the summer season, therefore risks being unable to take place in the French streets. So, what does this “big meeting” that the Minister of Culture is holding out correspond to ? " We are trying to prepare something [...], including outside ," he nevertheless declared on May 15. The limit is not to take risks with groupings, too much population mixing. "

If the latter did not disclose more details on the terms of this 38th edition, radio and television are already beginning to organize. To ensure that the Fête de la Musique was held in accordance with health regulations, it was necessary to use trickery. On June 19, France 2 will broadcast a live concert from Bercy with stars like Gims, Patrick Bruel, Catherine Ringer, Tryo, or Camélia Jordana ... but with a false audience.

Physical distance on stage

Replacing the traditional open-air concert, this Fête de la musique will be "different and militant" , underlined Takis Candilis, the managing director delegate to the antenna and programs of France Televisions, in a videoconference. Forty artists will "celebrate music" in the great Parisian hall, "with a scenic device that integrates the public inside the recording" . Claudio Capéo, Chris (tine & the Queens), Kendji Girac, Pascal Obispo, Dadju, Suzanne, Amir, Bénabar, Thomas Dutronc, Boulevard des airs, Slimane et Vitaa or Lous and the Yakuza will sing for the Fête de France 2.

Swiss and Belgian artists like Aliose and Romeo Elvis are also part of the set for this evening broadcast simultaneously by RTBF, RTS and Canadian radio. Shaggy and Sting should also make an appearance. In order to allow all these beautiful people to occur without risk of contagion, the production has taken its precautions: the route of the artists is studied so that they meet as little as possible in the giant room, each has its own microphone, boxes are systematically disinfected. And physical distance must be ensured even on stage.

We hope that this message will really make people want to go back to the theaters as soon as they are opened.

Tristan Carné, producer of the show

The three-hour show will be presented by Garou and Laury Thilleman, as in 2019. Two heart-shaped scenes will be surrounded by approximately 650 square meters of tulle, with projections of images of the public filmed during concerts and festivals before confinement. It's a "pretty beautiful, poetic idea," said the show's director, Tristan Carné. "We hope this message will really make people want to go back to the theaters as soon as they are opened . " This evening must be "the symbol of support for the record industry and festivals, concert halls , " said Mr. Candilis.
