Coronavirus in France: 57 new deaths in hospitals, at least 28,771 dead in total

While the French are preparing to regain their freedom of movement on Tuesday, the slowdown in the coronavirus epidemic is confirmed in France. According to the results of the Directorate General of Health published this Saturday, 57 new patients have died in French hospitals. At least 28,771 dead in total since the start of the epidemic.

Since the start of the epidemic, 18,444 people have lost their lives in French hospitals. 14,380 patients remain in care in France for Covid-19 infection. In the past 24 hours, 227 new patients have been treated, infected with the virus.

1,325 resuscitation patients

Among them, 1,325 people suffer from a serious form of the disease which requires treatment within the intensive care unit. In the past 24 hours, 29 new patients have been admitted to these specialized services. The balance, which takes exits into account, continues to testify to the recession of the epidemic, with 36 fewer patients compared to Friday.

Since the start of the epidemic, 101,593 people have been hospitalized. 68,268 were able to return to their homes.

The pandemic has killed at least 364,362 people worldwide since its onset in December in China. The United States is the most heavily affected country in absolute terms, with nearly 103,000 deaths. This is followed by the United Kingdom (38,161), Italy (33,229), France, Brazil (27,878) and Spain (27,121). As a proportion of the population, excluding micro-states, mortality is highest in Belgium (816 deaths per million inhabitants), ahead of Spain (580), the United Kingdom (562) or even Italy (550).
