  • Award for Self-Aviation Lifetime Achievement. Wave in "The Proud Revolution"

During the "Proud Revolution" docu-series created by Gal Uhovsky, he tries to instill in his mind a theory he developed that parents in Israel are more likely to get out of their sons' coffin because the alternative option is to die in the military. This is his thesis, and almost every interviewee who has been through has heard it from him. Most did not understand what he wanted from them, but there were some who agreed.

For example, a mother who lost her oldest son in his military service, and then discovered that her youngest son - gay. Ochowski took them to the memorial in memory of the son, and there under heavy clouds and a strong spirit reminded them of the seven scene in the film he produced, "Yossi and Jagger"; "As in the movie, even with you at seven, there was a secret in the room - the bereaved brother who has not yet left the closet," he explained. "You're good at getting gay out of the closet," the mother joked, before delivering a story about a receipt with the bottom line: "As a mother who lost a son, I can't think of any reason why a mother should give up her son." And here he got his certificate. "How can it be that in a country like ours, the proud revolution has been so successful?" Uhowski's series asks, and he makes efforts to provide answers - but only ones that fit his worldview. For instance, when he finally mentions the murder in Brnoyer, it only happens as a trigger for Harel Skaat's departure from the closet, with Lahovsky many shares in the singer's public outing.

The three episodes of the series do not renew much but grind old stories with the same celebrities who recount experiences and concerns. Ohovsky emphasizes that he is one of the pioneers of the community, certainly with regard to public visibility and media activity. To illustrate this, he returns to Hadera, his childhood town, and his personal exit from the closet by comparison to a local boy who has done a similar process.

Throughout more than two and a half hours of interviews and meetings, exploring the differences between political testimony and opinions, Ouchowski is always looking for credentials. Just waiting to be told: Walla, you were right. Perhaps this is also why the interviewees were the ones who forgave him for his intense pursuit of them when they were lonely in the closet.

 • What is the difference between Gay and Proud?

"The Proud Revolution" is a celebration of victory laden with achievement, but throughout many scenes there is a blurred separation between "community" and human Uhovsky. And that's how this important and important series came out at the end, like a graduation certificate made by Ouchowski for himself - an award for a life of self-aviation. Whoever decides how history will be remembered is the man who tells it to future generations.
