(ANSA) - PIACENZA, JUNE 01 - The "Portrait of a Lady" by Gustav Klimt returned on June 1 in the availability of the Ricci Oddi Gallery in Piacenza, even if in fact it went from one vault to another, being transferred from the armored deposit of the Banca d ' Italy to that (a few hundred meters away) of the Bank of Piacenza. To confirm the transfer is Major Giuseppe De Gori, commander of the Carabinieri nucleus, Cultural Heritage of Bologna.
The painting, stolen on 22 February 1997 and then "reappeared" in still mysterious circumstances in an external niche of the Piacenza museum in which it was stolen, was disqualified by the substitute prosecutor Ornella Chicca, owner of the investigation into the theft.
At the moment, three people are registered in the register of suspects, two for receiving stolen goods and one for theft. Before returning to Ricci Oddi, the "Portrait of a Lady" must undergo restoration. In the meantime, the museum is preparing an adequate alarm system and a special theft-proof and valdalism-proof to protect it. (HANDLE).
