(ANSA) - ROME - The 2020-2021 campaign for wheat is announced with an availability higher than that of the previous campaign (+ 1.8%), the result of a slight increase in production (+ 0.6%) and a most significant quantity of initial stocks (+5.3). This is what emerges from the comparison between market analysts on the occasion of Romacereali, 13th international meeting of the cereal sector promoted by Agro Camera, a special company of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, and held online this year.
The 2020-2021 campaign, for wheat as a whole, has a production forecast by the International grains council (Igc) in the world which stands at 766.1 million tons, exceeding (+ 0.6%) the record production of the campaign 2019-2020.
However, in Europe of 27, total wheat production is expected to decrease by 23.3 million tons, reaching 131.7 million tons in the 2020-2021 campaign (equal to -15%) and the area destined for wheat is expected to decrease by Igc (‐3.0%).
According to what emerged at Romacereali, the 2020-2021 production of wheat in Italy increased: 7.4 million tons (+ 13.8%) compared to the 2019-2020 campaign.
Furthermore, cereal food consumption increases more than that for feed.
