In order to freshen the air in the house, it is important to ventilate regularly. But especially in summer you can quickly bring a horde of flies into your home that don't want to go away. However, a woman seems to have come across a trick that made flies stay away from their four walls from one second to the next.
Woman swears by simple trick to get rid of flies - how it works
From essential oils to hot spices and fragrant tomato beds: many tricks promise to successfully scare flies out of the house *. But do you already know the trick with the water bag and the coins ? A woman read about it and decided to test it out for herself - with an astonishing result, as she finds: "We usually have five to six flies that just fly around in the middle of the kitchen. So annoying," she wrote, according to the online portal Mirror in a post in the Facebook group "Hinch Army Cleaning Tips". "Since we put the pouch on, I haven't seen a single fly in the kitchen. Wonderful!"
But how exactly does this trick work? It is very simple: the woman filled a transparent plastic bag with water and put a few coins in it. She closed this bag and then attached it to a handle on the window - where many flies were looking for a way into their house. From then on, the flying problem was solved for them. On Facebook, some users were curious as to why a bag full of water and filled with a few coins should scare away flies.

Does the trick actually make flies flee?
There is a lot of speculation about the exact reasons: some believe that the flies perceive the liquid as the surface of a body of water and therefore turn around. Others believe that the insect is startled by an increased reflection of itself. However, it is more likely that the refraction of light from the water and the coins will confuse the eyes of the flies, which consist of 3,000 to 6,000 lenses. However, there does not seem to be a clear answer. Some experts, such as Zack Lemann from the Audubon Insectarium in New Orleans, are also of the opinion, according to the daily Nola, that the method does nothing. In the end, everyone has to test for themselves whether the trick works.
