Seydouba and Mamandy, respectively couturier and tailor in their country of origin, wanted to make their contribution.

"Cut him off. I sew. And vice versa! Seydouba Condé takes turns with Mamandy Kandé to make fabric masks in Angoulême (Charente). Since April 10, these two Guinean asylum seekers have manufactured more than 1,250 pieces with the means available and on a voluntary basis. “For us, it is simply a way of helping, of contributing to our small scale. People need masks, we were available and we know how to sew, ”summarizes Seydouba Condé.

This thirty-something learned sewing from a friend in order to get odd jobs in Conakry. His compatriot, he is downright tailor by trade: “I had my workshop in Gaoual. I made traditional clothes, uniforms for schoolchildren or work clothes for minors. "

A private room transformed into a workshop

At the beginning of April, these two friends met at l'Éclaircie, the Angoulême accommodation center, decided to act and moved heaven and earth to find a sewing machine, fabric and rubber bands. They have since supplied Soyaux, a neighboring commune, and several associations.

“We also distributed them on public transport to those who did not have them. And if we had had more materials, we would have done better. But it's meticulous and meticulous, that's already it ”, assure Seydouba Condé and Mamandy Kandé, who were able to count on Mariame Kandé, an activist from Angoumois to lend them her living room which has since been transformed into a workshop. They, who have been alternating emergency accommodation and D systems for accommodation for almost a year, are already "ready for the next order".
