Mafia: boss orders from prison, arrests

(ANSA) - CATANIA, JUNE 03 - Pietro Puglisi, the son-in-law of the deceased historical mafia boss Giuseppe Pulvacchetti, known as 'U Mappassotu', from prison, before being placed at 41bis, gave orders on the management of the clan that had its base in Belpasso, once Malupasso, as the operation was called, but which extended to several neighboring Etna countries.
   This is what emerges from the ongoing operation of the carabinieri of the provincial command of Catania who, by delegation of the Etna District Prosecutor's Office, are carrying out a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge against 20 people across the country. The alleged crimes, for various reasons, are mafia association, extortion, receiving stolen goods, trafficking and drug dealing. The organization affected by the operation is linked to the Cosa Nostra of Catania represented by the Cospa Santapaola-Ercolano and was led by the 'family' of PietroPuglisi.
