Gabbani, The sweat sticks us is my catchphrase

After the success of Viceversa presented at the Sanremo festival, for Francesco Gabbani it is summer time with the song "Il sudore ci appiccica", extracted from the last album, on radio from 5 June and already available digitally. (HANDLE)

"The second place in Sanremo? Paradoxically, time convinced me that it was not the right time to win. Of course, at the moment there was a bit of bitterness, but three participation and three victories would have given a perception tending to dislike so I'm happy so, what interests me is to reach the public ". And the public, Francesco Gabbani, got there, all right. His Viceversa on YouTube has over 42 million views and is the most "seen" song of the Festival (second Elettra Lamborghini and third Diodato). "In quarantine I missed this: sharing with the public".
But now it's summer time with the song "Il sudore ci appiccica", on radio from June 5, already available in digital, extracted from the last album (released on February 14 for BMG), which continues its journey. A song "all to dance" that applies as a catchphrase 2020, in a season as uncertain as ever (also and not only for the soundtrack that will accompany us), due to coronavirus. "It is a fun, uptempo song - says the Tuscan singer-songwriter - but, as I am used to doing now, even the most cheerful songs hide a double reading. And so if on one hand there is sweat in pain and suffering on the other hand there is also the hope of returning to 'stick', in love, in hugs, in the disco, after being so far away. And then there is always, as in Vice versa and throughout the album, of the double perception of each of us: the private and the public, how we see ourselves and how others see us ". A concept, that of duality, also highlighted by the video that will accompany the song and which sees Gabbani "split". "The most flamboyant and colorful me is how others see me, the me in a dark suit is the most introspective and analytical part".
The coronavirus has messed up the plans of many, including those of Gabbani, who, after Sanremo, could have reaped the fruits of his success. "And instead I'm on stand-by. The only live event announced was the Arena di Verona on October 8th. A very important appointment for me and unfortunately it hangs in the balance, I still don't know if we will be able to do it". However, he does not hold back from the possibility of doing concerts within the limits allowed by current restrictions: a thousand people in open spaces. "We are thinking about it, I wouldn't mind."
Meanwhile, the return to an almost normal is enjoyed. "Although I live a few km from my mother and Carrara, technically I am in Liguria and we have not been able to see each other in these months - he says -. So dinner with her is the first thing that awaits me with the reopening of the regional borders. For the rest, for me who live in the countryside, the quarantine was not excruciating and above all it was not so different from when I am not around for work, apart from going skiing in the Dolomites. Somehow it marked me and I am sure that will stay inside me and affect the next things I will write. "
