The Cercil, the Vél d'Hiv children's memorial museum in Orléans (Loiret) - which merged with the Shoah Memorial in Paris in December 2017 - has not yet reopened to the public since the end of confinement. Appointed responsible at the start of the year, to replace Nathalie Grenon, Annaïg Lefeuvre would not have imagined taking up her duties in such a context. The reopening, in mid-June, of this 450 m² memorial space will mark the real beginnings as director of this 38-year-old anthropologist by training, who notably officiated at the Drancy memorial (Seine-Saint-Denis).

80th anniversary of the “green ticket” roundup

The hazards of life make her find the city where she grew up to her bac, in the Source district. Cercil was obviously no stranger to him. Annaïg Lefeuvre was even hired there as a cultural mediator between 2008 and 2010. It was here, in contact, with the historian Catherine Thion, that she became familiar with the archives, "a laborious but fascinating work, to research and cross-checking of information ”.

Since her appointment, she has been working on the rich program for next year, with 2 strong markers: the 80th anniversary of the roundup of the "green ticket" - which corresponds to the arrest of foreign Jews by the French police on May 14, 1941 - and the opening of the memorial space in the old Pithiviers (Loiret) station - where 16,000 Jews transited between 1941 and 1943 before being deported to the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp in Poland.

It was also inevitable to celebrate "the 30 years of the association and the 10 years of the museum, which will be an opportunity to take a retrospective look at all the research work on the history of internment camps in the Loiret" , Annaïg Lefeuvre announces. It already wishes to strengthen the links of Cercil with the network of Holocaust memorial sites in France in order to carry out "a joint reflection on the future of memory and transmission".
