" Several Member States are reopening internal borders " and the framework is expected to be completed "by this June". The reopening of the external borders will take place later, with a "gradual and partial withdrawal of the external borders, starting" from the first of July ", announced the EU High Representative, Josep Borrell.

Austria will open the border with Italy on June 16 . Instead, a call for caution for Lombardy will remain in force, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said. From Tuesday, Vienna will allow travel to 31 European countries overall, with the exception of Sweden, Great Britain, Portugal and Spain. "Today we have opened a large window towards free movement," said Schallenberg who made an appeal to "don't forget common sense while packing".

The Germany will remove the controls at borders to citizens of the EU since June 16 , said German Interior Minister Seehofer, in a press conference in Berlin. The decision was made in Angela Merkel's cabinet. "We will continue to monitor the development of the situation in neighboring countries," explained the minister, who will order to gradually reduce controls until June 15. For Spain, air traffic checks will continue until 21 June, due to "reciprocity". Those arriving in Germany from the EU countries and Switzerland will no longer have to undergo quarantine, explained Seehofer.
