(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 11 - The EU Commission recommends all States that join Schengen to lift internal border controls by 15 June, and to extend the temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU until 30 June, establishing an approach common to gradually revoke restrictions, since July 1st. Given that the health situation in some third countries is still critical, Brussels does not propose a general lifting of the restrictions. This was stated by EU Commissioner Ylva Johannson.
Travel restrictions at this stage should be invoked for the countries selected by the Member States by mutual agreement, on the basis of a series of principles and criteria, including the health situation, the ability to apply containment measures during the trip, evaluations concerning reciprocity , taking into account the data of the European Ecdc Agency and the WHO.
