Confined seniors: La Poste will serve meals for less than 10 euros

2020-06-12T20:50:21.585Z

La Poste has teamed up with the company Saveurs et vie to offer baskets for less than 10 euros as long as containment is recommended

In addition to its traditional postal service - criticized during confinement - La Poste is multiplying, alongside its main mission, solidarity actions, in particular with isolated seniors. With its subscription service "Watch over my parents", the group already offered options such as remote assistance, mail relief, rental of tablets, delivery of medication or even the postman's visit once a week (or more , depending on the option), to check that everything was fine by doing a chat. A service billed from 19.90 euros per month.

From now on, in partnership with the company Saveurs et vie, the bouquet also includes the delivery of fresh meals at home, throughout the country. "Because they are more vulnerable to the pandemic, the confinement of seniors is strongly recommended for another few weeks or even a few months," says Vincent Deloche, in charge of the Watch over my parents service at the Post Office. This is why, it seemed important to us to ask Saveurs et vie to partner with us to offer quality meals to elderly people who are isolated and often weakened ”.

To encourage this population (or their families) to try out this new service, La Poste and Saveurs et vie have agreed to offer "a 33% promotional discount until the end of the recommendations to keep fragile people at home" , announces Vincent Deloche. But to take advantage of it, current and new customers will have to wait until June 15, "time to set up the logistics".

During confinement, demand exploded

"This promotion will make it possible to deliver quality meals, prepared by fifteen partner caterers, for a price of less than 10 euros including tax," adds Paul Tronchon, founding president of Saveurs et vie, a leading company in the home-based food supply for seniors created 20 years ago. From now on, therefore, La Poste can receive meal orders on a single number - 0800 0001 - without having to subscribe to its “Watch over my parents” service. Meals are delivered, depending on the recipient area, either by the postman or by the Post's subsidiary, Chronofraîche, and most of the time twice a week if you want 7 days a week service.

Until then, the Orly (Essonne) company offered its services directly or at the request of complementary health providers. She invoices the meal 14.80 euros for lunch only, 18.90 euros if we add dinner. The menus offered take into account any health problems for everyone (salt, sugar, chewing, etc.) with the help of a nutritionist.

Containment has exploded the use of seniors for home delivery of meals. According to Paul Tronchon, "before March 16, we delivered 5,000 to 7,000 meals a day, today we are at 10-12,000," he said. And most of its subscribers, isolated from their families, chose the meal plan 7 days a week.
