(ANSA) - MONTEVIDEO, JUNE 12 - Contagions from Covid-19 in Latin America have passed the one and a half million mark, according to an AFP agency count. The most affected country is Brazil, which has exceeded 800,000 cases and 40,000 deaths, with an impressive increase of 100,000 reports in the last three days. For days, the coronavirus pandemic in Latin America has undergone a sharp surge, with a daily number of infections ranging between 35,000 and 50,000, and with at least 1,200- 1,500 deaths. Brazil alone contributes to the general balance with about half of those infected (802,828, + 30,412 compared to yesterday) and 60% of the dead (40,919, +1,239), against the background of tensions and controversies due to the unscrupulous health policy adopted by the President's government JairBolsonaro. Peru follows, with 214,788 infected and 6,109 dead, Chile (154,092 and 2,648) and then Mexico (129,184 and 15,357).
