Ingredients for the spicy pasta salad

  • 500 g of pasta, e.g. penne
  • generous pinch of salt
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 1 vegetable onion
  • 400 g tomatoes
  • 3 cloves of garlic *
  • 100 ml balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Sambal Oelek
  • 100 ml of olive oil
  • to taste: arugula

Recipe for spicy pasta salad: how to prepare it

  • Boil the penne * al dente according to the package instructions and drain well in a colander.
  • Wash and clean the spring onions thoroughly and cut them into fine rings.
  • Finely chop the onion *.
  • Wash the tomatoes and dry them well. Then cut it in half and cut out the stem.
  • Then remove the kernels so the pasta salad doesn't get so watery  and cut the tomatoes into small cubes.
  • Then pull on the cloves of garlic and chop them finely.
  • Mix the pasta with the vegetables.
  • Mix the vinegar, oil, pinch of salt and Sambal Oelek together well, then mix the dressing with the pasta salad.
  • This spicy pasta salad should soak for at least an hour to develop its full flavor. Then you can add salt to the salad or "sharpen" it with Sambal Oelek. This goes very well with crème fraîche or tsatsiki.
