Two departments of the Massif Central remain vigilant orange, for a risk of floods, this Saturday morning, while the south-east should once again experience a rainy day.

The orange vigilance measures, for rain-flood, thunderstorms or floods, concerned 16 departments since Friday 4 p.m., before going to five at night. Only Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme are now concerned, explains Météo France, due to a "significant flood risk from Allier Brivadois" inflated by Haut Allier, itself in flood.

Thursday evening, a violent episode of Cévennes, rather unusual in June, affected the Cévennes and the Massif Central, increasing the amounts of precipitation and swelling the rivers whose levels continued to rise this Saturday morning.

The Cévennes episode and the associated rains over the south of the Massif Central will continue to ease this Saturday, leaving the inhabitants of Lozère and Gard time to breathe. The prefecture of Gard nevertheless warned "because thunderstorm cells should break out over the department as of tomorrow (Saturday) 8 am".

In Lozère, it fell up to 400 mm of rain in less than 24 hours, an exceptional accumulation in June. The Keraunos thunderstorm observatory has counted more than 2,000 lightning strikes across the department.

Friday at 2 p.m., it fell in 36 hours 371.4 mm Vialas, the equivalent of 105 rainy days, 281 mm in Saumane (Gard), or 132 rainy days, 70.5 mm in Mont Aigoual (Gard also ), or 287 rainy days.

This Saturday, over the Southeast, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Franche-Comté, Lorraine and Alsace, a few locally stormy showers circulate in the morning, with some more intense thunderstorms over Provence. In the afternoon, thunderstorm precipitation will intensify on the eastern side of the country, from the Mediterranean to the German border.
