While almost all of France has gone completely green, Guyana, which remains with Mayotte one of the only French territories still classified in orange, has just moved to stage 3 of the coronavirus epidemic, announced this Monday the prefecture and the regional health agency.

On Monday, Guyana had 1,326 people tested positive, 11 patients in intensive care, 59 hospitalizations, 3 deaths and 552 patients who can be considered cured. The number of positive cases doubled in eight days. Stage 3 means that the virus is actively circulating throughout the country, "and no longer only in limited areas," said the prefecture. The latest epidemiological investigations of the cases declared in recent days now make it possible to attest to this active circulation.

A positivity rate of 27.25%

In total, 566 positive cases were detected on 2077 tests carried out from June 7 to 13, representing a positivity rate of 27.25% over seven days. "Concretely, the transition from Guyana to stage 3 must lead everyone to assume that they can now come across a contagious person in their everyday life, regardless of where they live," explain the prefecture and the ARS. .
